How to create Users and Groups in OBIEE 10g

Open repository in Online mode using BI Administration tool

Login
Default password is Administrator.
In the menus select Manage -> Security

Select Action -> New -> Group

Enter the new group name “Test Group” and click on Permissions…

Click on Add to grant the access to the Physical Layer and select SH from the presentation layer list.

Click OK
Now to create the user Select Action -> New -> User

Enter the username, password etc. and check the Groups that you need the user in and Click OK.
Save the Repository. With this, the user is now able to access/connect to the OBIEE Presentation Service.
Following steps explain how the access inside the Presentation service can be controlled for this user. Logon to Presentation service as Administrator
Select Settings -> Administration

In the following screen shot, the first option Manage Catalog Groups & Users will give the Administrator an ability to Organize the users into Groups and these groups are speicific to Presentation Catalog and are different from Repository Groups that have been created above.
Click on Manage Privileges

As it is shown, the default permissions is for Everyone in Access Group, and can be changed here.

For e.g. Grant access only to the new user Karen on Answers.
